I am fascinated by the inconceivable – literally, our human minds cannot grasp it! – complexity and diversity of living things, whether they be 'individual' organisms, or 'superorganisms' such as ecosystems. In fact, all living things are both uniquely themselves, and consist of many other life forms – from the mature oak tree which encompasses 400+ varieties of life, to bacteria which contain mitochondria with their own DNA and evolutionary history. And it seems that the longer we live, the more gloriously complex we become – simultaneously more uniquely ourselves, and more intricately entangled multiplicities, both biologically and socially.
As you can see from the images I make, I'm a great fan of the extraordinary beauty 'hidden in plain sight' everywhere.
My long-term projects include a four-volume photographic memoir, and a book exploring commonalities in all life forms as they progress through the processes of ripening, realisation, and decay.
